Daheia Barr-Anderson, PhD, Publishes work on Adolescents and Television
Powell Center Women’s Health Scholar Daheia Barr-Anderson, PhD, published a paper in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity about the relationship between TV and diet over the transition from adolescence to young adulthood. The research is part of the U of M’s School of Public Health’s Project Eating Among Teens (EAT). Dr. Barr-Anderson is from the School of Kinesiology in the College of Education and Human Development. Please urge your Congressional Representative to get junk food out of schools. The current nutrition standards for foods sold in vending machines and a la carte lines are 30 years old and no longer make sense. The Child Nutrition Promotion and School Lunch Protection Act soon will be reintroduced in the House of Representatives, and would update the national nutrition standards for foods sold out of vending machines, a la carte, and other foods sold outside of school meals.
