Rahel Ghebre


Dr. Rahel Ghebre is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health. Dr. Ghebre’s clinical practice involves caring for women with ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer at the University of Minnesota Women’s Health Clinic.

Dr. Ghebre received her M.D. degree at the University of Michigan. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Fellowship in Gynecologic-Oncology at the University of Minnesota in 2004. She then joined as a faculty member in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in 2005. Dr. Ghebre is Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Ghebre’s research is focused on clinical trials in the field of Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer Prevention. She is active as Co-investigator on clinical trials for ovarian and endometrial cancer. As a BIRCWH scholar in 2008, Dr. Ghebre will be investigating cervical cancer prevention with primary Human Papilloma Virus testing for poorly screened populations of women in Minnesota. As part of the collaborative team, Dr. Ghebre will be working with Timothy Church, Ph.D., Professor, Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health; DeAnn Lazovich, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Division of Epidemiology, School of Public Health; and Sharon Allen M.D., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Family Medicine, Medical School. Dr. Ghebre is currently an MPH candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and is a member of numerous professional societies.
