Privileges of Membership
Powell Center members:
- Will receive regular updates on lectures and events via e-newsletter.
- Will receive funding opportunity updates via research e-newsletter.
- May be eligible to participate in applications for funds sole-sourced to National Centers of Excellence in Women’s Health.
- May be listed in the Powell Center Speaker’s Bureau.
- Can request letters of support from the Powell Center for Women’s Health for grants, awards, or other nominations.
- Will be eligible for travel awards available to members only.
- Will be invited to “members only” meetings with visiting faculty.
Responsibilities of Membership
- Participate in programs of the Powell Center that will forward your career interests.
- Acknowledge Powell Center membership when appropriate in women’s health-related publications and presentations.
- Provide updates on research and publications in the area of women's health when needed by the Center for Federal reports.
- Have your name listed on the Powell Center website or in publications.
Criteria for Membership
Member categories include:

Faculty: Appointment as Assistant Professor or above (on the tenure or non-tenure track) and has an interest in women’s health or sex differences research or services.

Fellows: Appointment to a post-graduate fellowship program with an interest in women’s health issues.

University staff: Professional or Civil Service staff with an interest in women’s health.

Community members: Anyone with an interest in health care, social services or community leadership related to women’s health and development.
Review for Continued Membership
All members are reviewed by the Powell Center Directors every three to five years for continued membership. Generally, membership is maintained unless there is a major change in career or research activities or appointment with the University of Minnesota has terminated. If upon review the Powell Center Directors consider a member no longer meets the criteria for active membership, he/she will be contacted to discuss appropriateness of continued membership.
